Taj Mahotsav
Taj Mahotsav, a 10 days annual festival is organized at Shilpgram, in Agra. This mega event invokes the memories of the old Mughal period which was prevalent in the 18th and the 19th centuries in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a culturally vibrant platform that brings together the finest Indian crafts and cultural. During the festival tourist can experiencing the rich culture, arts, crafts, cuisine, music and dance of Uttar Pradesh. The festival is a golden chance for the renowned artisans to display their magnificent works of art.
Artisans from different parts of India get an opportunity to display their exquisite works of art. To name a few among them are the wood/stone carvings from Tamil Nadu, Bamboo/cane work from North East India. Paper mash work from South India and Kashmir. The marble inlay work and zardozi work from Agra. Wood carving from Saharanpur and brass wares from Moradabad. Handmade carpets from Bhadohi. Pottery from Khurja. The festival starts with a grand road procession with beautifully ornamented camels and elephants, folk artists, drummers and master craftsmen. Drum beaters, trumpet players, folk dancers, skilled crafts men and artisans also join the procession to make it a grander affair, The Taj Mahotsav is held every year from 18th to 27th February.
